Just a quick word about the Tahoe Rim Tour. I skied this race for the first time last year and have to say, it is (in my opinion) possibly the awesome-est race in the entire Far West region, all year!!
-Rolling and flat off the start;
-a long long climb but one that’s not very steep and allows you to ski very smoothly and get in a nice rhythm;
-and then an incredibly fun, very long gradual downhill which makes you feel superhuman as you just can’t make yourself tired on it no matter how hard you sprint
-then a little bit more rolling stuff after you’re all rested from the downhill;
-finally an awesome finish right into the Northstar village!! How freakin’ cool is that????!!!
I have been having a seriously difficult time deciding whether to do the Minneapolis SuperTour races which I’d been looking forward to since June, or skip those to do the Tahoe Rim Tour.
If you’ve never done the Tahoe Rim Tour before, I HIGHLY recommend it!!! YOU MUST GO!! Plus, unlike some other races that go up the fiberboard freeway, your entry fee will go to support Far West Nordic. Which is about as cool as finishing in the village at Northstar (extremely.) Hope you can make it this year and who knows, maybe I’ll see you at the start!!
